I bought the entire disc brake conversion kit from ECI Brakes. This heavy steel plate will mount to my stock 1939 Ford spindles. The instructions call for making adjustments to allow for maintaining the original steering stop angles. In addition to grinding down the spindle retaining bolt head, I chose to grind the adapter plate slightly so I didn't have to remove too much from the spindle bolt.

I checked the steering stop angle without the new adapter in place, and then was able to make a comparison to the spindle with the plate bolted in place. Without making this adjustment, you would lose a lot of steering angle.

After all the grinding and adjustments were to my satisfaction, I had the adapter plates powder coated black with the poly- urethane clear finish that I'd used on other front end components.

This view of the driver's side (left) spindle shows the 3 heavy duty bolts and the special spacers for them. They position the caliper adapter plate where it should be.

You can also see the spindle retaining bolt head where it was cut off and ground down to provide clearance for the steering angle.

A similar view to above, except I have set the caliper adapter plate in place. ECI recommends positioning the adapter to put the caliper to the rear of the wheel.

The adapter plate was not yet powder coat painted in this picture.
